About Phillipa as a Speaker

To introduce myself, I'm Phillipa Vincent-Connolly, a historian, writer, and published author of historical fiction and nonfiction. I am a consultant on many exciting projects across a broad spectrum with a special interest in disability and am becoming the 'go-to' broadcaster on this subject, especially with the publication of my book, 'Disability and the Tudors'.

I achieved my degree in History and Humanities in 2011; my PGCE, QTS, in 2014; and my NQT in 2019, in teaching (secondary); and part of my MA Graduate Diploma in History in 2020. I have spoken at the National Archives and the British Library to great acclaim. I am a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society.

I have written for History Today, Readers' Digest, and Blitzed Magazine, amongst others, and I am regularly interviewed for BBC Radio. I also make television appearances and am a familiar face as a Talking Head on historical documentaries — bringing expert commentary and personal insight to screen audiences across the UK.

I am a UK-based speaker and broadcaster with years under my belt as a historian, writer, author, and 'talking head' for television documentaries. I have my own podcast, 'Talking History with Phillipa Vincent-Connolly', and have spoken in front of many-sized audiences — some have been up to 1,000 people — and I love every second of it!

Now, as a globally certified life coach with the Napoleon Hill Institute, I also share my story in front of audiences so that people can see that even as a disabled woman, I have the ability to accomplish anything I can conceive, or believe I can achieve. I LOVE what I do and what I have accomplished, and I like to think that people come away from my talks inspired by having heard a story that only could be told by someone who has actually lived through such unique experiences as I have.

What Talks Do I Offer?

My Story, and How Personal Development Changed Me

Phillipa shares how she was miraculously born premature at 26 weeks, weighing just 2 lb 2 oz. Despite ten close calls with death, she clung to life. She shares her journey through cerebral palsy, boarding school, bullying, domestic abuse, and depression — and how Napoleon Hill's teachings and a single coaching session transformed her perspective. A talk of extraordinary resilience, faith, and the power of mindset.

Disability and the Tudors

How we think the Tudors treated disabled people versus the fact they were very forward-thinking and inclusive. Phillipa spotlights Henry Patterson, the cook who petitioned Henry VIII for a pension, William Somer (the king's trusted companion), Jane Foole of Anne Boleyn's household, and Henry VIII's own wheelchairs, walking aids, and decline into disability.

The Tudors and Intellectually Disabled People

A focused exploration of intellectual disability during the Tudor period — how madness was perceived, how intellectually disabled people were treated, and why the Tudor approach was far more nuanced and humane than we might expect.

Anne Boleyn

Was she scheming? Did she just want power as queen? Or was she maligned because her relationship with Henry was the catalyst to the Reformation? Was she guilty as accused, or were they false allegations? Phillipa examines the evidence and the enduring mystery of one of history's most fascinating women.

Mindset, Coaching and the Power Within

Drawing on her NHI certification and the teachings of Napoleon Hill and Bob Proctor, Phillipa explores how shifting your mindset can unlock extraordinary results. A talk that blends personal testimony with practical tools — and asks: if you're 95% capable, why can't you live the life you want?
